In the landscape of our emotions, imagine wild dogs representing negative feelings such as fear, anger, and sadness. Like untamed beasts, they roam freely within us, sometimes threatening to overwhelm our sense of peace and stability.
Choosing Between Two Difficult Paths:
1. Befriending the Wild Dogs:
- Some may attempt to befriend these wild dogs, hoping to tame or appease them. They may indulge in self-destructive behaviors or harmful coping mechanisms, believing that embracing their negative emotions is the only way to find peace.
- However, trying to befriend wild dogs can be dangerous. These emotions, if left unchecked, can consume us, leading to further distress and suffering.
2. Fleeing from the Wild Dogs:
- Others may choose to flee from these wild dogs, avoiding or suppressing their negative emotions altogether. They may distract themselves with temporary pleasures or bury their feelings deep within, hoping to outrun their inner turmoil.
- Yet, fleeing from the wild dogs offers only temporary relief. Ignoring our emotions doesn't make them disappear; instead, they linger beneath the surface, waiting to resurface with even greater intensity.
